Approved and managed U.S. credit risk on tailored lending (private banking), SME commercial lending, residential mortgage and home equity lending, non purpose margin lending (portfolio loan account) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) lending portfolios. Previously oversaw all margin lending, equity option contracts, futures trading limits, and fixed income/securities lending transactions for global wealth management group (GWMG) leading up to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney joint venture integration. Served Chairman of firm’s U.S GWM credit committee from 2003 to 2009, as well as serving on board of directors for Morgan Stanley Trust.
Oversaw all CRA wholesale lending for Morgan Stanley Bank, NA and Morgan Stanley Private Bank, NA, focused on affordable housing and economic development (SBA 504 loans). Served as voting member on three separate Community Development Financial Intermediaries (CDFI) external credit committees. Managed all loan workouts and personally handled larger and more complex transactions over wide range of industries and collateral types, with strong recovery results. Developed, implemented, and enforced all policies and procedures of firm’s credit committee.
Coordinated all retail and wholesale product capital treatment, ensuring GWMG compliance with Basel II Final Rule. Served on firm’s asset/liability, identity theft, new product approval, and insurance due diligence committees. Interfaced with regulatory agencies, including Federal Reserve Bank, FINRA, NYSE, SEC, CBOT, FDIC, OCC, NFA, and various state banking regulators. Led development of credit policies, procedures, credit underwriting standards, and risk acceptance criteria for all GWMG credit products. Oversaw strategy development, vendor selection, system implementation, marketing, sales, training, and national rollout for all of GWMG’s credit products.
